JOSE G CANO
Jose G Cano is the founder of the Earth Hub. Originally from Spain, where he worked in the retail and fashion industry, he sailed to Thailand where he worked to create safe shelters for women and children living with HIV/AIDs with the Life Home Project. He was appointed Honorary Consul of Spain and honoured with the Cross of the Knights of the Order of Isabel La Catolica.
Jose moved to Aotearoa New Zealand, in 2009, where he has become increasingly involved in the climate action movement. He is one of the local coordinators of Extinction Rebellion, a worldwide organisation demanding action on the climate crisis, and was trained in climate change action by Al Gore’s organisation Climate Reality in Berlin 2018. Jose is also a photographer, specialising in fine arts and underwater photography.
Zoe Palmer manages the Earth Hub’s day to day operations and keeps the space open for visitors. Zoe grew up in different towns around NZ, and has always had a keen interest in people and community resilience - as well as the environment. She is currently involved with many community projects such as the Top of the South Youth Hui, and Community Initiative “Our Village”.
